Letter to the University Admissions Committee

Dear MIT and UCBerkeley Admissions Office,

I am not too sure whether you’ll be reading this, but if you do, I do ask for just two minutes of your precious time.

With the decisions for the transfer applicants due sometime end of the month, my application will either be in the ‘rejected’ pile or ‘under consideration’ pile. Perhaps I could add just a small update on what my plans are for this project of mine to give you a better picture of me as a science student.

Though it is no Olympiad medal, research paper, or 800 SAT, my website ‘Gaussian Department of Mathematics’ has recently recorded just over 5000 hits per day for the month of March. The motivation for this project was to make myself a distinct candidate when applying to the top schools. Little did I know that this idea of filming online videos and writing interesting mathematics articles evolve to something much more meaningful – to be a person whom many students of mathematics and physics turn to for help and inspiration.

While I can easily copy and paste the many fan emails I get from people around the world, I will not. Rather, I prefer you navigate around my site to see my work. I do humbly like to add that the request for me to do more advance topics has not ceased. Partial differential equations, set theory, topology, differential forms, stokes and divergence theorem, Fourier transform have been at the top of the list of most requested videos. An invitation to contribute to the science community? This opportunity is too good to pass up and in due course I will be giving lessons on those subjects.

So in a crowd of students who are striving to win the next Putnam competition, seeking to run for student council, and working towards that perfect grade point average, you might ask ‘What is so special about this kid called Donny?’

Research in the applications of group theory in Quantum Mechanics was what I always wanted to do. But for now, I’m just someone who wants to learn more mathematics from a top school so that he could later inspire others just like he always did and could use an acceptance letter come 30th April.

Thank You.
